2,4-Dimethylaniline (2,4-xylidine, m-xylidine, 4-amino-1,3-dimethylbenzene, CAS 95-68-1) is a high-purity aromatic amine and an important agrochemical, pigment, and fine-chemical intermediate. It is the primary building block for the acaricide/insecticide amitraz and the herbicide/plant-growth regulator mefluidide, and a key raw material for high-grade azo pigments such as Pigment Yellow 81 and for solvent dyes; it also serves in pharmaceutical and dye synthesis.
