Isobornyl Acrylate (IBOA)
High-Purity Monofunctional Acrylate Monomer — Bio-Based Reactive Diluent for UV/EB Curing
CAS: 5888-33-5 EC: 227-561-6 Assay: ≥ 99.5%
Isobornyl Acrylate (IBOA) is a monofunctional acrylate monomer and low-viscosity reactive diluent for UV- and EB-curable systems. Its rigid bicyclic (isobornyl) structure delivers a high homopolymer glass-transition temperature (≈ 94 °C), low shrinkage, low volatility, and excellent adhesion, hardness, and water resistance, while roughly 76% of its carbon is bio-renewable (pine-derived). Royalchem Spain supplies IBOA at ≥ 99.5% purity, stabilised with MEHQ and a drop-in equivalent to common SR506 / Ebecryl IBOA grades, delivered from our Valladolid hub by drum, IBC, or ISO tank.

UV/EB Coatings & Inks
Reactive diluent that lowers viscosity and VOC while building hardness, scratch and chemical resistance, gloss, and weatherability. Used in wood, plastic, metal, and paper coatings, overprint varnishes, and screen, inkjet, and UV printing inks.
Adhesives & Electronics
Co-monomer in UV-curable and pressure-sensitive adhesives (including optical PSAs), conformal coatings, and photoresists. Its bicyclic structure improves adhesion to difficult plastic and metal substrates.
3D Printing & Resin Modification
Monomer and diluent in SLA / DLP photopolymer resins; raises Tg and reduces shrinkage in high-Tg thermoplastic acrylic resins, and acts as a flow and leveling improver in modified powder coatings.
