1,4-Dihydroxyanthraquinone (quinizarin, Solvent Orange 86, C.I. 58050, CAS 81-64-1) is an orange to red-brown anthraquinone derivative and one of the most important intermediates in dye chemistry. It is a building block for a wide range of disperse, vat, acid, and solvent dyes — including disperse blues and anthraquinone blues — and is also used to colour and mark gasoline and heating oils, to form lake pigments, and to colour plastics and resins. Royalchem Spain supplies it at ≥ 99% purity as a crystalline powder, delivered from our Valladolid distribution hub by bag or drum with COA and SDS for every batch.

A core building block for disperse, vat, acid, and reactive dyes — including disperse blues, anthraquinone blues, and alizarin- and indanthrene-derived colourants — used across textile, leather, and printing applications.
As Solvent Orange 86, used to colour and mark gasoline and heating oils, and to make solvent-soluble dyes, lake pigments (with calcium or barium), and colourants for plastics and resins.
A chelating hydroxyanthraquinone used as an analytical reagent (including spot tests for boron and certain metals) and a precursor to sulfonated derivatives such as 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid and other functional molecules.
Standard Packaging:
25 kg fiber drums, cartons, or kraft-paper bags — or to customer requirement. Distributed by Royalchem Spain from our Valladolid hub. Shelf life 24 months in original sealed packaging.
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, protected from direct light, heat, and strong oxidising agents; keep containers tightly closed and minimise dust generation. The dye stains readily — protect surfaces, skin, and clothing during handling.
