3,5-Dichlorobenzoyl chloride (3,5-DCBC, CAS 2905-62-6) is a high-purity, reactive acyl chloride and a key building block for pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis. Its activated carbonyl readily undergoes Friedel–Crafts acylation and amide/ester formation, making it a valued intermediate for the dry-eye drug lifitegrast, the herbicides propyzamide and oxaziclomefone, dichlorobenzamide derivatives, and specialty fine chemicals. A low-melting solid that is liquid near room temperature, it is moisture-sensitive and corrosive. Royalchem Spain supplies it at ≥ 98% purity (HPLC) as a colourless-to-yellow material, delivered from our Valladolid distribution hub under dry conditions by drum.

A reactive acyl building block for active pharmaceutical ingredients, used in the synthesis of the dry-eye drug lifitegrast and in the preparation of dichlorobenzamide derivatives by reaction with amines — a versatile route to substituted benzamides and benzoate esters.
A key building block for crop-protection actives, notably the selective pre-emergence herbicide propyzamide (pronamide) and the herbicide oxaziclomefone, as well as other amide-based agrochemicals.
A general-purpose acylating agent for Friedel–Crafts acylation and for amide and ester formation, used to introduce the 3,5-dichlorobenzoyl group into dyes, ligands, and specialty fine-chemical molecules.
Standard Packaging:
250 kg HDPE or steel drums, or to customer requirement, filled under dry nitrogen. Distributed by Royalchem Spain from our Valladolid hub. Shelf life 12 months in original sealed, dry packaging.
Storage Conditions:
Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, strictly away from water, moisture, alcohols, amines, bases, and oxidising agents; nitrogen blanketing is recommended. Moisture-sensitive and corrosive — it hydrolyses on contact with water or humid air, releasing hydrogen chloride.
