L-Pyroglutamic acid (L-PCA, 5-oxo-L-proline, pidolic acid, CAS 98-79-3) is the cyclic lactam of L-glutamic acid and a naturally occurring component of the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). It is a chiral building block for pharmaceutical synthesis and cognitive-health actives, the parent acid of the PCA salts (sodium PCA, zinc PCA) used as premium humectants in cosmetics, and a raw material for mild amino-acid surfactants. Royalchem Spain supplies it at 98.0–101.0% assay as an off-white crystalline powder, delivered from our Valladolid distribution hub in drums or cartons.

A chiral amino-acid building block for API synthesis, peptide chemistry, and cognitive-health and neuroprotection actives; pidolate salts (magnesium, calcium pidolate) are used as well-absorbed mineral carriers in supplements.
The parent acid of sodium PCA and zinc PCA — key Natural Moisturising Factor humectants in skincare, anti-ageing, and hair-conditioning formulations; non-irritating and well suited to sensitive-skin products.
A raw material for mild amino-acid-based surfactants and eco-friendly emulsifiers in personal-care cleansing and green detergent formulations, complementing glutamate and sarcosinate surfactant lines.
Standard Packaging:
25 kg fibre drums or cartons with double PE liner — or to customer requirement. Distributed by Royalchem Spain from our Valladolid hub. Shelf life 24 months in original sealed packaging.
Storage Conditions:
Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from moisture, heat, and strong oxidising agents — in hot aqueous solution it can slowly hydrolyse back to glutamic acid, so keep the powder dry and reseal promptly after use.
