N-Methylformamide (NMF, monomethylformamide, CAS 123-39-7) is a high-polarity amide solvent and versatile reagent — one of the most polar common organic solvents (dielectric constant ≈ 182), with strong solvating power for salts and polar intermediates. It serves as a solvent and formylating/amidation reagent in pharmaceutical API synthesis, an electrolyte solvent for aluminium electrolytic capacitors and electronic chemicals, and an intermediate in agrochemical production. Royalchem supplies it at ≥ 99.5% purity with tightly controlled methanol, DMF, and free-alkali impurities, as a colourless transparent liquid in drums or IBCs.

A polar reaction solvent and formylation/amidation reagent in API manufacture, a precursor to methyl isocyanide, and a medium for salt-demanding transformations that ordinary solvents cannot dissolve.
An electrolyte solvent for aluminium electrolytic capacitors and a process solvent in semiconductor and electronic-component manufacturing, valued for its very high dielectric constant and thermal stability.
An intermediate in pesticide and herbicide synthesis, and a selective extraction solvent for aromatic hydrocarbons in refinery and analytical separation processes.
Standard Packaging:
200 kg HDPE or steel drums, or 1000 kg IBC totes — or to customer requirement. Distributed by Royalchem Spain from our Valladolid hub. Shelf life 24 months in original sealed packaging.
Storage Conditions:
Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, ignition sources, strong oxidisers, and acids. NMF is hygroscopic — keep dry (nitrogen blanket recommended for electronic grade) and reseal promptly. Restrict access to trained personnel; avoid all skin contact.
