N,N-Dihydroxyethyl-p-toluidine (N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-toluidine, MDEA-pT, CAS 3077-12-1) is a hydroxyethylated tertiary aromatic amine that pairs a p-tolyl ring with two reactive hydroxyethyl arms. It is best known as a low-odour, low-volatility accelerator for peroxide-initiated free-radical curing — in acrylic and anaerobic adhesives, dental composites, and unsaturated polyester and epoxy-acrylate systems — while its two hydroxyl groups also allow it to be built into polymer backbones as a cross-linking and stabilising co-monomer. A peroxide-decomposition accelerator for room-temperature free-radical cure in acrylic structural and anaerobic adhesives, dental composites and bone cements, and unsaturated polyester and epoxy-acrylate coatings and composites — giving faster cure with lower odour and colour than classical toluidine accelerators.
Its two hydroxyl groups react with isocyanates, acids, and epoxies, allowing it to serve as a chain extender, cross-linking agent, and built-in stabiliser in polyurethanes, plastics, resins, and coatings, improving durability and thermal resistance.
A hydroxyethylated amine building block with good wetting and low-foaming character for industrial cleaning and textile-processing formulations, and an intermediate for dyes and other fine chemicals.

Storage Conditions:
Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area at 5–25 °C, protected from light, moisture, oxidising agents, and peroxides (premature reaction risk); like other aromatic amines it may darken on prolonged exposure to air and light. Our technical team can advise on compatibility with specific resin systems.
